What does Sioen Fibres provide?
Sioen Spinning develops, produces and markets High Tenacity Polyester yarns with an annual output of 18.000 Ton/year.
The yarns can be supplied untwisted, twisted and plied with yarn counts from 245dTex up to 150.000 dTex.
We also offer yarns with special properties such as adhesion activation, abrasion resistance, flame retardancy, spun-dyed features, etcetera...
Who does Sioen Fibres serve?
Some of our markets (non-limitative)
- Geotextiles:
High tenacity, high modulus, high durability and low creep properties keeping soil and rocks in their place. Applications: residential and commercial construction, drainage and erosion control, road and railroad construction, shoreline protection, sludge containment, landscaping, …
- Conveyor belts:
High tenacity and low elongation properties Yarns with Adhesion Activated (AA) additives enhances adhesion properties for coatings with rubber, PVC, TPU,… Applications: light weight and heavy conveyor belts for commercial and industrial use, power transmission,… .
- Ropes/Hoses/Moorings
High tenacity and low elongation properties. On request the yarn can be supplied with Adhesion Active finish enhancing rubber adhesion properties. Applications: ropes and hoses (for boating, marine lines, sporting lines, fire fighter hoses, low pressure hoses for residential usage) and in offshore mooring (for deep-water environments such as oil and gas production platforms).
On request the yarn can be supplied with a finish enhancing better abrasion resistance and increase durability and life expectancy. Applications: cargo-tie wraps, slings, tow straps, luggage restraints, …
- Marine
High strength to weight ratios, excellent abrasion resistance for high durability and life expectancy. Nautical applications such as sailcloth,… .
Sustainable production of tailor-made yarns
The production of our yarns is fully circular, a zero-waste unit. In our recycling unit, we convert polyester lumps and rest-material of our weaving mills into shredded flakes and then compound this into polyester granulates. These granulates are then again used in dedicated spinning lines at our yarn extrusion plant in Mouscron, Belgium.
Innovation and investments
At Sioen Spinning, specialists are working continuously on process- and product optimization and on the development of new yarns. We are work in close contact with our customers, suppliers, universities and with the other R&D colleagues of the Sioen Group. In total, 205 developers can help us to find a dedicated solution for your application.
Our labs are equipped with the latest testing equipment such as instruments for tear and breaking strength, flame retardancy, thermal radiation, chemical resistance, wicking, water column, color fastness, ageing and many more. Thanks to in-house testing equipment we can monitor our quality at any time and guarantee finished products according to your requirements.
Through continuous investments, one of the USP’s of the whole Sioen group, we can guarantee the best quality, innovative solutions, tailored to our customers’ needs. 2018 was a milestone year for our spinning mill. The site in Mouscron (Belgium) was renovated in 2018 and production capacity increased through targeted investments: from 16,000 tons of polyester to 18,000 tons a year. The investments in a continuous reactor and extra spinning lines allow us to increase capacity and to engineer our high-end specialized products even more.
